Chapter One

A shop opened in 1894.

Established in 1894 by the late Prakash Chandra Dhar, our journey began with a simple commitment to quality and tradition. Today, more than a century later, P. C. Dhar & Sons remains proudly family-owned, warmly guided by Mr. Bijoy Gopal Dhar and my wife, Mrs. Sumita Dhar.

We pride ourselves on being a true family shop with a welcoming, homely atmosphere. Our shelves hold a meticulously curated collection of garments designed to accompany you through every single stage of life—from a child’s very first outfit to life's final, sacred farewells. Because we care about what you wear, every single piece is personally hand-picked and rigorously quality-checked by us. When you shop with us, you are getting more than just a garment; you are taking home a piece of Bengal’s legacy.

Chapter Two

Weavers we know by name.

We buy directly from the weaving villages of Murshidabad, Bishnupur, Shantipur and Dhaniakhali. Garad, Jamdani, Silk, Kantha and Tangail — each weave has a home, and we visit each home.

No middlemen. No mass production. Just the slow, deliberate art of pit-loom weaving — passed from father to son, exactly as it has been for centuries.

01

Pure handloom

Every saree is woven on traditional pit-looms — no power-looms, ever.

02

GI-tagged weaves

Certified Silk, Jamdani and Tangail from their villages of origin.

03

Four generations

A family partnership since 1894 — trust passed from parent to child, now led by Bijoy Gopal Dhar & Sumita Dhar.
